With all the latest interest in Pinterest, it has grown to be one of the fastest growing social networks of all time (at the time of this writing). At end of the previous year, Pinterest was listed alongside Google+ and LinkedIn as one of the best social networks and it averages about 10 million unique visitors per month.
With all the hype and buzz, everyone is setting up a brand presence on this somewhat new social media channel. For small business owners, Pinterest is a very cost-effective way of driving traffic to your website or blog and it could be a great addition to your social media marketing initiative. If you are interested in giving Pinterest a go, find a couple of tips below regarding this new social media channel that you can use for your marketing campaign.
Pinterest marketing tips
Invitation: To register on Pinterest you have to request an invite or you can ask someone already on Pinterest for an invite (* hint).
Profile: Once you have access to Pinterest, write a detailed about section on what you are doing, and use the right keywords that you are targeting with your search engine optimization and social media strategies. Make sure to include your location on your profile and add a link back to your website or blog.
Spread your message: Spread the content that you share on Pinterest by linking your social media accounts in the settings section. You can link your Twitter and Facebook profiles on Pinterest.
Pinboarding: Start building some interesting pinboards on your profile. Do some research and figure out a way to convey your message with images that have an aesthetic appeal, and that will attract interested people to see what you are pinning from the web.
Pinterest is all about imaging
Pinterest is all about the visuals and so you should focus on sharing images with useful and relevant content that you share on this network. When sharing new pins, keep the visual appeal factor always in mind at all times. Pinterest is an exciting new social media channel that you can use in your social media campaigns to add some visuals to your strategy.
Great post – I definitely do agree that Pinterest is all
about the visuals and sharing VIABLE images with targeted users. The thing that
I love the most about pinterest is when someone “pins” one of your
images to their profile it automatically provides them with a link to your site
and or profile. Its a great way of engaging with users and building connections
online , Especially affiliated connections can provide you with backlinks on
their site and vice versa.
One thing is for certain – Pinterest is a Social Media Channel and therefore it
must be used socially to engage with users and in return provides you with
quite a few ways and methods (especially visually) of connecting to more people
online – Socially and Professionally.
Great post once again, thanks for sharing.
Thanks Byron.
