In my experience, blogging can be a key part in your digital marketing and social media marketing campaign. Everywhere you will find new businesses that are adopting blogging to spread their message and to start building up a readership of people who are interested in what they offer.
Even though you will find many articles, blog posts, and whitpapers listing all the benefits of business blogging, is it really the right answer for your business? Blogging is really not the best answer for every business. Find below 3 questions you should ask yourself before starting a blogging journey for your business.
Who do you want to reach?
Who do you really want to reach with your blog or are you just going to start blogging because your competitors are blogging? If you are a local business, you most likely want to reach potential customers in your local market. In your blogging strategy you will need to use community names that are well-known in your blog. Do you know the age of your target audience? What interests them? Have you created buyer personas? If your target market is 60+, do they actually read blogs? It is crucial that you study the people you would like to reach with your blog first before taking the big step.
What do you want to accomplish?
With any digital marketing method, you should always have a clear purpose and goal with your campaign. It might be used for branding as the authority in your target market and niche, or increasing your website’s organic rankings on the search engines. Set a clear plan and follow it with your blogging journey. If you don’t have any measurable goals with your blog, you won’t know if you are succeeding.
Why do you want to start blogging?
What drives you? What is your motivation? If you enjoy journalism and writing, then blogging is a very creative and natural outlet that will fit into your lifestyle quite perfectly. If you are one of those that prefer to visit your local dentist over writing a new blog post, then the signs are that you are just not into blogging.
Before you get started with blogging, consider all the things such as are you restricted on what you are going to say in your blog posts? Some companies are restricted and regulated on how they can advertise their services and products to promote themselves. Don’t get me wrong, I have been blogging for many years, but blogging might not be the best answer for your business.
Terrific points to consider. Thanks for the tips!
