If you are already using social media marketing at your organization to build awareness for your services or products and you are not getting the results you were hoping to get, what do you do next? To answer that question you have to look at what you are currently doing with your SMM campaign.
Do you have any social media profiles such as a Twitter account and a Facebook Page pointing back to your business without thoroughly thinking through the marketing implications or considering your business goals? To get your social media campaign working for you, take a deep breath and look at what is not working with your current social media strategy. Here’s a couple of tips that can help you take your social media marketing campaign to the next level.
What is your social media objectives?
If you are not sure about your social media objectives, there is a very good chance that your social media campaign isn’t working. What do you want to accomplish with your campaign and why? Answering this can help you determine the target demographic and desired actions. Without any objectives, you are most likely trying to generate untargeted traffic instead of qualified leads.
Do you use call to actions?
If you are looking to get interested people to join your network and take a specific action, it is very important to lead them where you want to take them and have a way so that you can measure the results.
Can your content travel with little hassle?
Regardless of where you have published your content, on most of the social media channels or your owned media such as your blog, ask your visitors to share your content. Integrate appropriate social bookmarking options on your content to make it easy to share your content. At a minimum, consider Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and LinkedIn. Include appropriate reminders on your owned content to let visitors share your information to their own network.
Cross promote your social media efforts
Use your other traditional marketing campaigns to cross promote your social media efforts in a cost-effective way. Include a link or sentence on your website, packages, and catalogs to your social media profiles. Be creative in how you can use your existing media and content to get people involved in your SMM campaign.
Use videos in your campaign
People have been trained to watch television since they were young. YouTube is the second biggest social media channel and also the second biggest search engine. Video content extends much further than only YouTube. You can upload your video content to your own YouTube channel, but you can also share the video on all the other social media channels that you are using such as your blog.
Use images in your campaign
Think broadly when it comes to images because they can engage your network and then draw them in to view your content. This means that you should integrate images to break up your long text with visuals. You can also get your network involved by getting them to submit images and photographs on using your products.
Measurement
Like almost any other digital marketing method, it is very important to track and measure your social media campaign. Determine how you are going to measure the effectiveness of your campaign before you start your strategy. Remember, it really doesn’t matter how much page views you are getting from your campaign if you are not using conversions as your most important metric to track.
Regardless of your current social media marketing campaign, you should be able to get your campaign even further by systematically going through the tips explained above.
