Facebook, the biggest social media channel and the top site (number 1 on Alexa Top Sites) is gaining much popularity, not in terms of how big it is, but in terms of digital marketing. The CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg announced a short while ago that Facebook has reached a massive milestone. Facebook is now sporting with 1 billion members. It’s not big anymore. It’s massive.
Let’s take a step back and think about that figure. 1 billion people is a lot if there’s roundabout 7 billion people on Earth. The good news is that it’s not stopping there. Facebook continues to grow despite the fact that their IPO doesn’t look promising.
Facebook marketing
Beyond the 1 billion people now on Facebook, more people and businesses are starting to catch on to the idea of using this platform for marketing purposes. One of the common reasons for this is because 1 billion people using Facebook on a daily basis are using this platform to follow their favorite brands. In fact, people actually like following their favorite brands and famous personalities rather on Facebook than spending time on their websites. That is something you cannot ignore.
I’m not trying to convince you, but Facebook marketing is definitely the way to go if you want to get your brand on the social web. I know it’s best with any digital marketing campaign to only use the channels in your marketing initiative where you targeted audience can be found on, but come on. I’m 100% sure you will be able to find your targeted audience on Facebook. You just need to know how to look for them on this massive channel.
Engage directly with your clients
Using Facebook for marketing can be a creative marketing medium for your business. If you have a business page on Facebook, you can engage and connect directly with your clients and future prospects in a unique way. Instead of broadcasting your own message and throwing your slogans at them, engage and enter into a conversation with them. It will pay off.
Social media should really get a new name – “Social Media Communication”. Facebook should be seen as a social media communication platform that offers your fans, clients, and prospects with a new powerful and exciting way to connect directly with your company and it looks like Facebook has already taken over the social web.
