Twitter recently launched a new feature on their platform where you can directly post your Tweets to Facebook. This has always been possible in the past with the integration of third party services, but you can now set this up hassle free and directly from Twitter on your profile settings.
If you want to activate this feature, login to Twitter, browse to your profile settings and then at bottom of the “Profile” option, you can activate this feature by clicking on the button “Post Tweets to Facebook”. Once activated, your Tweets will be automatically posted to Facebook as status updates.
Post only original Tweets to Facebook
Only original Tweets will be published to Facebook and not @mentions or retweets. When you have posted a new original update on Twitter, your Tweet will be published on your Facebook wall with a link back to your Twitter profile.
This new feature on Twitter is different to the services provided by Tweetdeck and Hootsuite where you can post your Tweets directly on Facebook as they happen. Twitter will be providing support for this new feature and should be able to fix issues and integrate new or exclusive features that these third-party services cannot provide.
Will you be using this feature?
This is an awesome feature if you want your Tweets to be published on your Facebook wall automatically without logging into Facebook and posting the same message on both platforms. Will you be using this new feature on Twitter to automatically post your Tweets on your Facebook wall? Personally, I won’t because I’m only sharing my own stuff on my personal Facebook profile and I don’t want to post every Tweet for my family to see. If you could connect a dedicated Facebook Fan Page to be posted to, then I would definitely use it.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if you are going to use this service, don’t bombard your Facebook “Friends” with irrelevant updates every minute. This will be a sure way to hide your profile from the news feed.
